A container train for the port at Grain diverted away from its normal booked route takes the line through Strood for Hoo junction and another run round to access the Grain Branch. Due to weekend engineering work this service on Lowliner wagons has already run down to Rochester and reversed. Height clearance at this time on former Southern Region routes was a major problem and special low platform wagons had to be used to convey containers to the Port of Grain.
