The cottage opposite is The Old Wainwright whilst the cottage on the corner is The Old Wheelwright. Wainwright is the occupation of making and repairing wagons. The word is the combination of the archaic words "wain" (a large wagon for farm use) and "wright" (a worker or maker). A wheelwright (or wainwright) is a person who builds or repairs wheels. The word is the combination of "wheel" and the archaic word "wright", which comes from the Old English word "wryhta", meaning a worker or maker. Both definitions from Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary.
