Winch and slipway at Hazelford Ferry. The first recorded ferry here was 1275 and it remained an important crossing until Gunthorpe Bridge http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/652879 was built in 1875 and it finally stopped c1945. The winch was used to haul the ferry boat out of the water up the slipway
