Oak trees on the wooded part of Stringers Common. Stringers Common is a particularly good site for the Purple Hairstreak which can be seen flying around the crowns of most of the oaks from late June to the end of July. The best time to see them is in the early evening (18.30 - 20.00) when they seem to become far more active than earlier in the day.
