The milepost stands beside the B3078, the Cranborne to Wimborne Road. The woodland is part of The Drive Plantation and is part of Cranborne Estate. Milestones/mileposts are the original roadside heritage features with many dating back hundreds of years and these historic items are under threat from highway developments.
