A Cambridge bound train waits at the down platform. A small brick built waiting room is provided in the centre of the platform and the footbridge across to the up platform and main station building is visible on the left. In the foreground a white gate provides evidence that there was once a private siding here. Behind the train are some warehouses that were probably connected with the grain trade. These have been replaced with modern offices of a similar style in, what is now Bearwalden Business Park. Cambridge services were usually operated by class 37 locomotives but occasionally, as in this case, a class 31 would be pressed into service.
