The flats nearest to the camera were built by the council on the site of Copley Mill. The terrace houses behind were built to house the mill workers. The railway bridge over the river carries the first railway between Lancashire and Yorkshire, constructed in 1840. The viaduct carries a later branch line to Bradford via Halifax.
