The South Brent to Kingsbridge line, closed in 1963 after 70 years' service, crossed the River Avon several times along the narrow section of the valley around Gara Bridge. This is the support on the west bank of the northernmost of the bridges, below Curtisknowle. The river is flowing to the left.
