This is a road turnpiked in 1765 across the Blackdown Hills http://webapp1.somerset.gov.uk/her/details.asp?prn=24625 . Here it runs past a small wood (left) north of Redlane, with a brief belt of trees on the right. The double bend here is the only deviation from a straight road for almost three kilometres.
