When the chancel of St Peter's church > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1866317 collapsed more than 200 years ago the chancel arch was walled over and a new chancel was constructed in 1934. The east window > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1866379 is the only large piece made by William J Bolton of Cambridge to be found in the UK. Fragments of Norman origins found during the construction work can be seen set into the exterior walls of the new chancel. The nave dates from the 15th century and has retained the original roof. The medieval pews in the nave have been stripped and cleaned, showing again their original colour and textures > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1866393. Some have carved poppy heads in the shape of human faces > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1866398 and lions' faces and birds > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1866411. A figure brass depicting a priest in his vestments > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1866386 can be found in the aisle and one of only about 40 seven sacraments fonts > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1866421 stands in its original place at the west end of the nave.
