Congregationalists held cottage services c. 1866 and a chapel was built at Shellthorn, 1.5 km. north of Broomfield church, in 1870. URL: http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=18503 . This wall on Shellthorn Hill, just below Chapel Hill Cottages, contains the east window in dressed stone. The derelict building is not listed.
