Staddle stones beside Bushey Lane

These mushroom shaped stones would have formerly been used to raise barns or granaries off the ground, to prevent produce being spoiled by damp. Rodents were apparently unable to climb past the caps of the stones. The wooden building in the field on the right is raised up on staddle stones.
