St. Nicholas' Church, Castle Hedingham, Essex

This church was originally built as a late Norman church with much of the period still evident. The tower is entirely Tudor and a very striking example. There are a lot of interesting features inside the church, which includes a tomb of the 15th Earl of Oxford, John de Vere. The de Vere family were one of the most powerful Norman families to make Britain their home and they were responsible for the Castle at Hedingham.
