This is the building where the blood is typed and infection screened before distribution to hospitals across the West Midlands. the service is also responsible for blood component therapy (FFP, platelets, clotting factors). I once went on a several day course here. The green building is the boiler house that was required when the steam was turned off from the central boiler house for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital site. It sits above the original service duct and hooks into the existing pipework. A quantity surveyor friend was involved with the contract for the green shed.
