The A9 and Highland Line were shut in the last weekend of February 2010. The Highland Chieftain service from London was one of the first trains through after the line was cleared. I took the southbound Highland Chieftain from Inverness at 07:55 on Monday 1 March. Just south of Culloden until Drumochter Pass there was a wonderful "shaving foam" landscape with the snow. There was a good 40 cm of snow on the platform of Aviemore Station as can be seen here.
