These shops were closed and shuttered on the Sunday that I took this picture ... perhaps, since the former Pye Bank School, opposite, closed in 2003, they are closed permanently. Update ... a few weeks later I went back during the week, and ... they were still closed! Shame as I was fancying a Mars Bar or a Peppermint Aero or, as I was close to Pye Bank School, perhaps a Pie would have been more appropriate. Update ... see Image ... which shows that the shops are two-storey at the rear.
