Alongside the railway crossing on the former A6023. The name of the turnpike which erected this milepost is an indicator of how the industrial development of the area affected places. Both Hampton Brierlow and Hooton Roberts have remained small villages while places like Mexborough, Denaby Main, Swinton and Wath upon Dearne expanded enormously with the development of industry in the Don and Dearne valleys.
