The plaque commemorates the onetime birthplace of the Antarctic explorer, Sir Robert Falcon Scott. Such plaques are erected with pride yet, with the passage of time, they are allowed to become scruffy leading to one wondering why they are not maintained with the same pride as when they were erected.
