Greensforge Mill and Smestow Brook

This former Victorian cornmill has been converted into residential apartments. It lies adjacent to the Smestow Brook, which can be seen in the foreground. There is conflicting information about the history of this site. The most likely seems to be that long before the Victorian era, a Mr Green had a forge here, which may (or may not) have started out as a cornmill. It is possible that after use as a forge, it reverted to being a cornmill. It was apparently demolished in late Victorian times. The present building was then built to replace it. Certainly this building seems to be Victorian, with no indication (to my untrained eye) that it was built any earlier.
