Viewed across a wintry paddock. The village of Barton Bendish is situated approximately 8 miles east of Downham Market with the civil parish covering an area of 15.92 kilometres. It falls within the district of King's Lynn and West Norfolk. The name of the village is believed to be derived from a dyke called Bendish that was constructed here by the Saxons to form a boundary line.
