The view from Bettws Lane of the front of Newport High School, opened on November 9th, 2009. The new school buildings replace the old school, Bettws Comprehensive School, which was set back several tens of metres from the same part of Bettws Lane as the new school. The new £28 million school has 34 classrooms, 8 science labs, 8 ICT suites, a design technology wing, 6 special educational needs areas and a vocational training, learning and resource centre. The building currently accommodates 1,100 pupils with potential for more students in the future.
