The commuter trains were comprised of four electric-multiple-units - 2 smoker and 2 non-smoker. The seat upholstery of the smokers was red and black striped material and that of the non-smokers - green and black striped material. Two toilets were provided between each smoker and non-smoker unit. Initially leg and luggage room was restricted and the door seals let in drafts but this was improved after new units were introduced.
