A heap of lime fertiliser has been deposited in the corner of this stubble field east of the public footpath linking New Road > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1605765 with The Street > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1605853 further to the north-east. Lime is added to the soil in order raise the pH, lower the acidity or 'sweeten' the soil. The cottages seen in the background are located on The Street.
