Plants and flowers of all kinds were on sale - including trays of wallflower seedlings, bunches of roses, exotic indoor plants and sizeable olive trees in pots. Despite the cold and rain there was a steady trade in Christmas trees. As well as the traditional Norway Spruce (Picea abies) there were alternatives that were less prickly and less likely to drop their needles on the living room carpet - Noble Fir (Abies procera), I think, and Serbian Spruce (Picea omorika), useful for its slender habit.
