Image, looking down the hill from across Fore Street, from the same spot as Image The hotel's original building - that is the building to the right, seen more clearly in the other images - "is about 250 to 300 years old" http://www.arundellarms.com/history.htm which gives a good history of the village. The Arundell Arms has become associated with fly-fishing, thanks to the owner's late husband, former BBC political journalist Conrad Voss-Bark, and interesting fishing memorabilia decorate the walls. Behind the hotel is a cockpit, a rare survival, and no longer used for cock-fighting, I hasten to add. On my next visit I must remember to ask to see it.
