Kippford is popular with small boat sailors and yachtsmen. The village is largely unspoiled by tourism and even the solitary general shop has closed down. There are, however, several substantial hotels in the area, and the town of Dalbeattie is within six miles. Some luxurious villas can be found along the coast towards Rockcliffe.
