The Common

The name of the field according to the 1844 tithe map which was the former site of Beechwood Common that was enclosed during the 17th century. The field had been subdivided on the St John (Without) parish side during the 18th century but was back as just one by the time of the tithe map. It stretches from Wickham Lane to the A275. Folly Wood is in the distance on the left.
