Tivoli Copse

Small piece of woodland that was once part of Tivoli Gardens, a small pleasure garden that was opened in the 1830s as Strawberry Gardens. Split in two by the railway a decade later the gardens were renamed and reopened in 1851 with a footbridge linking the lower and upper sites over the railway. The gardens closed in 1888 when the land was purchased by a developer who initially built two villas over the lower area that later became a housing development. The upper part survives as woodland.
