In 2006, despite tens of thousands of objections, Crewe war memorial was moved from its original position in Market Square, to the square in front of the Municipal Buildings. Now it faces the council offices rather than France, which is more usual. Here the low sun dramatically highlights Britannia's trident and her olive branch.
