It was only just after 3pm on an October afternoon, about 3 hours before sunset, but heavy cloud and rain made it very gloomy, giving the appearance of dusk as this class 455 electric unit approached North Sheen station on the straight stretch of track from Mortlake. The stopping service on this line forms a loop through Teddington, with trains in each direction starting and finishing at Waterloo.
