Greenstage of Hazelden Farm Oast

The greenstage was a raised storage area for fresh hops awaiting to be dried in the oast house kiln. The wooden slatted floor allowed air to flow through and prevent the hops wilting. Greenstages were often later structures added to an existing oast house, an increase in hop production meaning a need for further temporary storage areas. To the right can be seen a link to the adjacent building which was the hop processing building.
