Now here's a true classic! This lamp post is located on Lancaster Gardens, off Essex Gardens, in Birchington and is only just inside the bottom edge of square TR2969. The lantern is made by Metropolitan Vickers and is called an SS51, whilst I think the column is made by a now defunct Tipton-based company called Revo. I would imagine that the SS51 lantern is the original one to this column, and both date from I would say the 1950s. It has done extremely well to be surviving into 2008, as the modern steel lamp post you see in the background replaced an identical installation in 2004. View taken looking north-northwest, towards the junction with Kent Gardens.
