The three lions were on the official coat of arms of England, before it became part of the United Kingdom. They also appear on the coat of arms of the Football Association. However in both cases the combination of colours used is different to those on this sign. The pub is a Shepherd Neame house. This company, based in Kent, claims to be England's oldest brewery, having been in business since 1698. Image
