Pukeko, a rare sight in Berkhamsted! The barge is named Pukeko, a bird native to Australasia and which rivals the kiwi as an icon of New Zealand. Pukekos resemble overgrown moorhens with a red forehead and vivid blue bodyfeathers. Unlike the kiwi, pukekos are common in New Zealand, usually foraging for food in meadows or by the roadside.
