The south portico, of four attached Ionic columns, of the church designed by John Carr in 1790-94. Grade I listed. Carr was born in Horbury (and was buried in a vault under the church) and paid for the building. It cost £8,000, but Carr died a rich man, the fruits of a long career as a respected and successful architect. The top of the tower is just visible behind the tree. (See also Image)
