The tree had been 'unlucky' in that several other trees round about it were totally unaffected. The tree lies at the side of the Shropshire Union Canal at a 'winding' point (pronounced the same as the weather 'wind') where long boats are able to turn around in the otherwise narrow canal. The very calm weather this day provided the opportunity to give the mirror effect.
