The rise in this field is one of two moated sites either side of Eastwick Hall Lane, Eastwick, Herts. They are believed to be the site of Eastwick Manor which dates from the 13th century. The manor had a chequered history until it was burnt down between 1840 and 1850. The land is being sensitively managed by English Heritage to conserve its historical interest and to enhance it wildlife value.
