"Brunel House was the second of 5 large barrack-type orphanage buildings to be built from 1847 to 1870 by the Prussian-born pastor and philanthropist George Muller" http://www.imagesofengland.org.uk/Details/Default.aspx?id=469975&mode=adv It dates from 1857. The complex, after conversion for Bristol College of Science and Technology, became part of City of Bristol College, and was called the Brunel Campus, now renamed the Ashley Down Campus. Two of the five huge blocks have been / are being converted to housing.
