In 1668 Lettice Morgan of Cilfowyr was involved with the early Welsh Baptists gathering in Rhydwilym, not far away, and subsequently she and her family started holding meetings at their home. In 1716 a local man gave a piece of land for the building of the first chapel and also the use of the water from a nearby stream for baptisms. Several members of the early Baptist congregation here emigrated via Cardigan to the Welsh Tract in Delaware and Pennsylvania. The chapel stands adjacent to the former farmyard, down a lane leading from the road from which it is not visible.
