My nan moved into 7 Kestrel Close, immediately to the right of where we are stood, in the early 80s. She had been there six weeks and had not seen a postbox, so she wrote to the Post Office. She never received a reply but a month later one was installed opposite the turning, in front of the houses in the background (which were not there then). It is ironic that, years after she left Ferndown, it should be moved to her side of the road. The box is emptied finally at 5:15pm on weekdays and at noon on Saturdays. Leeson Drive is named after Lee & Son, the builders of the estate, in the late 60s.
