Back from the dead

When Bradford finished tramway operation in 1950, most of the cars were burned, but a few were sold for other uses such as chicken coops or holiday homes. Car No 104 was sold to Bradford Northern Rugby League Football Club for use as a scoreboard at Odsal Stadium, but a few years later it was rescued and restored to working order by a dedicated group of enthusiasts. As Bradford still operated trolleybuses, and there was a short stretch of tramline remaining on the approach to Thornbury Depot, the car was taken there and operated occasionally to give the public a chance to see, once more, a vehicle that had served Bradford for many years.
