The quadrangle of the main teacher training college in Edinburgh. It was established in 1846 as the United Free Church Training College when it occupied the old mansion on the Royal Mile. Expansion followed in 1907 when two training colleges for Protestant teachers combined to become the Edinburgh Provincial Committee for the Training of Teachers.
