Photographed from the Esplanade. In the foreground is a rare find; Morris 8 Series E, which is a pre WW2 design. Production continued immediately after WW2, and my father bought one in about 1960. Winding windscreen for summer ventilation, and no heating for the winter. I recall a particularly cold November trip to Rochdale, for a family wedding, heading up the M1 at a steady 50 mph, hoping to see cars travelling at 100+ mph (in the days before motorway speed limits).
