The close,or alley, runs down to the loch from the High Street. Oliphants the bakers is one of the oldest businesses in Linlithgow, having been trading in the same location for over 100 years. The close was in danger of being blocked off by a new housing development behind the bakehouse but local pressure ensured its survival.
