This area next to Arger Fen has been allowed to seed and develop naturally: near the old wood it was fast becoming a dense thicket of ash trees. One intervention permitted is deer culling, some of which is done from this raised chair, which bears a "No Unauthorised Use" label. A notice nearby warns that culling may occur during two hours at dawn and again the same at dusk but footpath users are not to be worried!
