Even while Catholicism was persecuted in the 17th and 18th centuries, many of the population of Glenlivet and area remained true to the Roman Catholic Church. This is one of three Roman Catholic churches in the Glenlivet/Inveravon/Kirkmichael area. It was designed by George Mathewson and built in 1837, replacing an older building. It is rather hemmed in by its surrounding graveyard, and difficult to photograph well, hence the converging verticals!
