At the foot of Rock Road, and of a steep flight of steps (left) to Melville Street. The building dates from 1853, as The British School. "Local grey limestone, brought to course with Bathstone ashlar and hammer-dressed grey limestone dressings; hipped slate roof. Italianate style." http://www.imagesofengland.org.uk/Details/Default.aspx?id=390775&mode=adv In 1904 it became "The Torquay Pupil Teachers Centre", the origin of Torquay Boys' Grammar School, which moved to Barton Road and later Shiphay. The building is now used by the Disabled Fellowship.
