From research done a couple of years ago, I am fairly certain that this street was originally Front Street. This part of the village, west of the A990, is shown on older maps as Port Tannachy or Porttannachy. The oldest cottages are single-storey, and the two houses with the triple dormers towards the far end are late Victorian. There is just a glimpse of a 20th century council house at extreme left.
