This row of red brick houses, also known locally as, 'the Duke's cottages' was built around 1840 by the Duke of Buccleuch, who owned nearby Granton Harbour, to house his workers. Until its removal in the 1980's there was an embankment and railway line along the grassed area to and from the harbour.
