This is probably the largest of the cemeteries in Lewis and Harris. It contains the remains of some passengers from emigrant vessel Norge which sank after hitting Rockall, 200 miles west, in 1904, some of the men lost when HMY Iolaire sank in 1919, also men who died in WWII and of course many local people.
